Ed Sheeran: Year of the Ginger?

Ed Sheeran's debut album reached the No 1 top chart in the UK within a month of it's release and has gone three times platinum since September 2011.

The really interesting thing about Ed Sheeran is this - because at the outset he seemed so out of step (and by this I don't mean just different from the mainstream, I also mean that he seemed out of step with what was cool and cutting edge too) that people were afraid to back him. Its not that labels weren't aware of him...He built a fanbase that was impossible to ignore.
